To end on a positive/hopeful note, if anyone would be willing to help me with figuring out how to get the official hpoj source to compile, or how to get pkg_add installed so I can try out the FreeBSD port of hpoj, I'd be eternally grateful. I would also post any solutions/attempts as followups here, too, with appropriate credit.

Hey @scansnap … Is the ix500 compatible with eero mesh networks? I am getting a “ScanSnap could not be connected to the Internet” error. This network supports 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz, so it’s not that. My Mac is on Mojave if that matters. Is it a known problem?
Can't install Mojave on my 2017 iMac 27" with Fusion drive. I replaced my internal 1TB drive with a 1TB SSD from OWC and rebuilt my Fusion drive (HFS+). When trying to install Mojave I get this error "This volume is not a supported Core Storage configuration".
VueScan is easy to use and has neat processing features such as the ability to restore faded colors, undertake batch scanning and also perform other image adjustments. The application's interface is easy to navigate with a main window showing Preview and Scan tabs and a left-hand navigation and control panel tabbed for Input, Crop, Filter, Color, Output, and Prefs.
VueScan does color-correct scans from photographic images by referencing profiles for over 200 different types of color negative film and four types of slide film, and it can also color-correct raw data based on profiles for your particular scanner, as well as allowing for a wide range of manual adjustments, and VueScan is engineered for crop and white-balance accuracy to minimize the amount of manual post-scan adjustment necessary, which will be especially appreciated when scanning batches of images using the "Input|Batch scan" option.
Identify the matched items in search results, and remove them to the Trash.
Great software, invaluable when you really need when you really need to use an old scanner, or someone else's scanner and you don't have their drivers.
